La Manufacture, a CDCN in Nouvelle Aquitaine
La Manufacture CDCN is a national center for dance development – whose central project is based in Bordeaux, south of France, with a secondary pole in La Rochelle.
The term “CDCN” is a national label awarded by the french ministry of culture and art, that means “National center for choreographic development ».
Like the 14 other CDCNs in France, the Manufacture CDCN’s artistic project focuses on the encounter between artists, artistics dance pieces, and audience.
◊ Giving new energy to choreographic creation, accompanying dancers/choreographers disseminating emerging and repertory pieces
> organization of an artistic programing season, presenting emergent and established artists and dance pieces – between 50 and 60 shows per year, in or venue or at our partners
> support to the emergent ant established dance artists and creations by financial and technical support (residency) to their production, with other coproducers.
◊ Reaching out to people
mediation – artistic and cultural education dedicated to students (1st and 2d degree) – practice workshops to non-professional dancers whatever their situations – resource production – regular training for artists and education and culture professionals.
◊ Open up to hybrid and transdisciplinary forms
special attention to theatrical and multidisciplinary writing, welcoming and leading the artistic community.
La Manufacture CDCN’s “Dance and other languages” project pays particular attention to the development of new multi-disciplinary projects, the outreach of the artistic community and exchanges between different practices.
During the time our main building in Bordeaux is beeing renovated, our activities will take place to our partners in Bordeaux city and metropolis, the department of Gironde, and the city of La Rochelle, but also further into our close countryside territory

It is also supported by Bordeaux Métropole and through the agencies OARA – L’Office Artistique de la Région Nouvelle-Aquitaine, iddac – gence culturelle du département de la Gironde, ONDA – L’Office National de Diffusion Artistique.

A-CDCN is the network of national choreographic development centers.
A CDCN members :
LOOP – Professional network for dance and young audiences
LOOP grew out of a meeting of co-producing partners around a project to commission dance pieces for young audiences, as part of the Belle Saison (2014-2016), a project produced by Le Gymnase CDCN Roubaix in partnership with La Manufacture CDCN. Based on this project, the Loop network was formed in February 2016, with the aim of continuing the reflection on dance for young audiences. The network is supported by Le Gymnase CDCN.
Its objectives are as follows:
– A platform for exchanges and meetings between programmers on the subject of dance for young audiences
– to share expertise and information on current and future projects
– Support for projects (co-production or dissemination)
– Mediation and training in dance for young audiences
– International scouting
Petites Scènes Ouvertes
Founded in 2004, Les Petites Scènes Ouvertes is a national network for emerging dance artists, supporting and promoting young choreographers. Today, the network brings together 7 structures throughout France to promote contemporary choreographic creation. Every season, the Grande Scène is organized, a major event bringing together choreographic works and professionals.
